Chigoziem Okonkwo Injury Update
Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo (undisclosed) left Tuesday's practice early. There is no further information on his status just yet, so it will be worth monitoring moving forward.
Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks (knee) and Kyle Philips (knee) are both banged up, so losing Okonkwo for any period of time would make the Titans' pass-catching group ultra-thin behind DeAndre Hopkins.
Chigoziem Okonkwo 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
This offseason, Okonkwo was a sleeper to finish as a low-end TE1 after Hooper departed for Las Vegas. It looked like he'd be in a bare pass-catching group competing with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to be the team's No. 2 option in the passing game. However, the arrival of Hopkins knocked down his outlook to mid-level TE2 status.
Hopkins should yield a massive target share and Burks is locked into the No. 2 wide receiver role for Ryan Tannehill. If the Titans continue to feed Derrick Henry 300-plus carries, there won't be many targets for Okonkwo to earn.
That said, assuming he's healthy he could continue to be efficient and exceed expectations if Tennessee's offense has a bounce-back year. The addition of Hopkins should raise the overall ceiling of the Titans' offense, leading to more touchdown upside for Okonkwo.
