Denver Broncos running back Chase Edmonds has bounced around the NFL over the past two seasons. The veteran running back was with the Arizona Cardinals last year. Initially, he was supposed to be the starter, but James Conner took over the lead role.
In the offseason, Edmonds signed a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Many fantasy players were excited to see him as the lead back in Miami. However, Raheem Mostert took over the lead role in the backfield, and Edmonds got traded to Denver at the deadline.
Since the Broncos lost Javonte Williams to a season-ending injury in Week 4, their backfield has been a fantasy nightmare. When he got traded to Denver, some thought Edmonds would return to fantasy relevance. However, that hasn’t happened.

Is Chase Edmonds Healthy Or Injured?
The veteran running back had three touches for nine scrimmage yards in his Denver debut in Week 10, scoring 1.4 half-point PPR fantasy points.
On Sunday, Edmonds had two rushing attempts for six yards. Unfortunately, he played only three snaps before suffering a high ankle injury that will cause him to miss the next several weeks.
What Running Backs Should I Target Off The Waiver Wire?
Fantasy players can go ahead and drop Edmonds from their redraft rosters. He is averaging only 4.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game this season, his lowest average since his rookie season.
Meanwhile, the waiver wire has several appealing options this week. Isiah Pacheco, Cam Akers, Latavius Murray, and James Cook are all solid targets. All four are available in over 55% of ESPN leagues.
Of the four, the top target this week is Murray. Not only is Edmonds out for the next several weeks, but the Broncos waived Melvin Gordon earlier today after he had his fifth fumble of the year on Sunday. Unless Denver adds a running back this week, Murray is at the top of the team’s depth chart.
Since joining the Broncos, the veteran running back has averaged 10 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, Murray is averaging 11.3 fantasy points per game over the past three games, scoring two touchdowns during that span.
On Sunday, the former sixth-round pick had a season-high 17 rushing attempts and four receptions against the Las Vegas Raiders. He ended the game with a season-high 15.2 fantasy points.
With Gordon off the roster and Edmonds out the next few weeks, Murray is a low-end RB2 with a safe floor, thanks to his projected role.
