Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool is entering the final year of his rookie contract and he will be a free agent after this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded him last year in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick, which ended up being the 32nd overall pick in this year's draft.
It will be a critical season for Claypool, as he will definitely want to secure himself a lucrative contract soon. He is currently not practicing at the Bears' mandatory camp as he is suffering from minor injuries, as per head coach Matt Eberflus.
The 24-year-old wide receiver is coming off a poor season in which he had 46 catches for 451 yards and scored just one touchdown. Bears fans will hope that a full offseason with the franchise will help him perform on the field.

Chase Claypool was quite good in his rookie season
After being drafted with the 49th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Claypool impressed everyone in his rookie season. He had 62 catches for 873 yards and scored 11 touchdowns but has failed to reach those heights again. He is still a talented player, but this might be his last chance to show NFL teams that he can be a WR1 or WR2 for a team. As stated earlier, he wants a big deal, which is why he might make a name for himself this coming season.
What to expect from Chase Claypool in 2023?
Since Chase Claypool will be playing alongside D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney for the Bears, he is expected to start the season as the franchise's WR3. This could help him, as he would face less attention from the opposing defense.
Given that he is 6'4 inches tall, he could become a red zone threat for Justin Fields' offense. This is the best possible scenario for Claypool, and he could earn some significant points for all the fantasy managers that have him in their dynasty leagues. Moreover, he is likely to be a sleeper in the fantasy draft, and managers could take a chance on him in the latter rounds.
