San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had an incredible rookie season after being selected with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy began the year as the third-string quarterback but led the team to the NFC Championship game and was a solid fantasy quarterback in the late part of the season.
However, he notably suffered an injury that put his 2023 campaign in jeopardy. Just before training camp, there's a positive update on his status.
Is Purdy healthy or injured? Is he worth drafting as your QB2 in superflex formats? Let's dive in.

Brock Purdy Injury Update
Purdy (elbow) has been cleared for the start of training camp. This is a surprising and major development as it should mean he's the clear QB1 for the 49ers heading into Week 1. There was speculation that Purdy could miss as much as the entire season after suffering a torn UCL in the NFC Championship game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but he'll be ready to go as soon as the Niners hit the field for training camp.
Given his clean bill of health this early in the offseason, his fantasy ADP is sure to climb.
Brock Purdy 2023 Fantasy Outlook
Purdy will once again have a supporting cast consisting of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle, so his floor should be incredibly high. In traditional single-QB leagues, upside is everything at the quarterback spot. In superflex and two-QB formats, a QB2 with a high floor is an attractive asset.
Jimmy Garoppolo was an underrated QB2 option for San Francisco in a high-powered offense over the last few seasons, and Purdy has a little bit more juice in his legs than Jimmy G. While he doesn't have elite upside like Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen, he is capable of producing boom weeks to go along with his safe floor.
It will be interesting to see where Purdy's ADP settles, but he makes for a great bargain QB2 option at his current cost. He has low-end QB1 upside assuming he remains the 49ers' starter all season long.
