Brock Purdy Injury Update for Fantasy Football
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told the media that he thinks quarterback Brock Purdy (stinger) will be alright for Week 17 versus the Washington Commanders. The MVP candidate initially suffered his injury during the second half of Monday's loss to the Ravens. The team initially listed him as questionable to return, but he remained on the sideline as a matter of precaution.
He finished the contest having completed 18 of 32 passes for 255 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions. Sam Darnold finished the game under center. Shanahan did note that stingers can worsen the day after they are suffered, so it's too early to confirm his status for Sunday's game. Nevertheless, it sounds like he should be okay, putting him back in the QB1 range for fantasy football ahead of a very favorable matchup.
Brock Purdy Fantasy Football Outlook
Hopefully, Purdy fantasy managers didn't lose in the semifinal round of the fantasy playoffs due to his untimely disastrous performance, because he's in for a big fantasy day on Sunday. The Commanders have allowed the most fantasy points per game (21.03) to quarterbacks this season, meaning Purdy's ceiling is nuclear.
With Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle all healthy, the 49ers offense should get back on track and build momentum for the NFL playoffs. Start Purdy with confidence.
