Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers couldn't be more satisfied with how Brock Purdy has filled in under center. Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot in Week 13, but San Francisco remains one of the hottest teams in the league, winning seven straight games.
Over the past three weeks, Mr. Irrelevent has completed 69% of his passes for 612 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception. It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows for the rookie. Purdy has been battling soreness in the oblique/rib region since making his first career start against the Buccaneers two weeks ago.
Despite playing through the pain in Week 15, there is concern about Brock Purdy's availability this week. Is Purdy injured? Will he play in Week 16? Let's dive in.

Brock Purdy Injury News
The 49ers had a short week to recover before last week's Thursday Night Football showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. Brock Purdy was a limited participant in every practice leading up to last Thursday's game. The 23-year-old rookie gutted it out and delivered another efficient performance to lift San Francisco to a 21-13 victory.
Purdy did not attempt a pass during last week's practices to mitigate his pain. During Tuesday's practice, however, the former Iowa State Cyclone was spotted throwing routinely.
With an extended period of rest, Brock Purdy appears to be in a much more comfortable position to play this week against the Washington Commanders.
Is Brock Purdy Injured or Playing in Week 16?
Purdy's injury has been described more as a pain tolerance ailment rather than a mechanical issue. The rookie executed well last week, four days after the injury was suffered, without throwing at all throughout the week. With nine days of rest and more reps under his belt this week, Brock Purdy is expected to play this Saturday against the Washington Commanders.
Washington is expected to get Chase Young back this weekend to bolster their pass rush as they battle for a playoff spot. The Commanders have allowed the sixth-fewest passing yards this year, but they've forced few errors, intercepting just seven passes through 14 games.
If you're looking for someone to replace Jalen Hurts with, or are streaming a quarterback this week, Brock Purdy could be a solid option. It's hard to trust a backup rookie in fantasy playoffs, but Purdy hasn't proven us wrong yet.
