Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. has had a productive 2022 season. The former Alabama star running back is the RB39 for the year, averaging nine half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
After missing the first four games this season, the rookie running back played in the past 12 matchups. He has totaled 70 or more rushing yards six times this year, including four of the past five contests.
Last week fantasy players got to see Robinson in a lead role with Antonio Gibson (foot) unable to play against the Cleveland Browns. The rookie running back had 87 yards on 24 rushing attempts in defeat.

Is Brian Robinson Playing In Week 18?
Unfortunately, the former Alabama star won’t play against the Dallas Cowboys this week. Robinson missed practice all week because of the injury. With the Commanders eliminated from the playoffs last week, the team has no reason to play the injured rookie in a meaningless Week 18 game.
Washington will face the Cowboys without their top two running backs as Gibson (foot) was placed on injured reserve on Thursday after undergoing surgery on his fractured foot. With Robinson and Gibson out this week, Jonathan Williams will start for the Commanders in Week 18.
Should I Pickup And Start Jonathan Williams?
However, should fantasy players add and start the veteran running back this week? Williams has barely played this season, totaling only 23 rushing attempts. Yet, he has played well when given a chance.
Williams has averaged 5.4 yards per touch this season. Last week he served as the backup to Robinson with Gibson out, scoring 4.8 fantasy points on 12 touches. This week he will be the lead back, with Jaret Patterson spelling him.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have held running backs to only 16.1 fantasy points per game this season, the second-fewest in the NFL. Over the past four weeks, running backs have averaged 84.8 rushing yards per game against Dallas. However, they have held running backs to only 13.7 fantasy points per game during that span.
While Williams will get plenty of opportunities this week with Robinson and Gibson out, the matchup against the Cowboys makes him a risky flex option. Fantasy players should avoid starting the veteran, if possible.
