New York Jets rookie running back Breece Hall was in the midst of a breakout after consecutive games with over 100 scrimmage yards.
But in Week 7, Hall had just four carries before exiting with a knee injury. He was on the way to having a huge game, as he already had 72 rushing yards and a touchdown, making it four weeks in a row that Hall had found the end zone.
How long will Breece Hall be out? And should fantasy managers add Michael Carter to replace him?

Is Breece Hall Out For The Season?
Unfortunately, Hall's rookie season is over, as he suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's game.
Because of that injury, Hall will miss the rest of the 2022 season. The good news—if you can call it that—is the injury happened early enough in the season that Hall should be good to go in 2023, and ACL tears haven't been death knells for players careers like they used to.
Hall ends his first NFL campaign with 80 carries for 463 yards and four touchdowns, and 19 catches for 218 yards and a touchdown.
Should I Pickup Michael Carter Off the Waiver Wire?
Michael Carter is currently rostered in 66% of Yahoo! leagues. That number should go up a good bit by the time waivers are over this week.
Michael Carter isn't Breece Hall, and we saw that on Sunday as his 13 carries resulted in just 29 rushing yards. In fact, Carter has finished with under three yards per carry in three of the last four games.
But he also had some good showings down the stretch last year, including having 118 yards against the Jaguars in Week 16. And with a fairly weak group behind him, we can expect Carter to get the first chance at the lead job ahead of Ty Johnson.
Michael Carter Fantasy Football Outlook For Week 8
Breece Hall was a fantasy RB1. Michael Carter isn't. He's not going to win you your league, but if he ends up dominating the backfield touches, he can provide you will a really solid piece.
The Jets have a tough schedule coming up, with the Patriots, then the Bills, then the bye and then the Patriots again. Carter's best days, provided he can stick as the starter, are going to come later in the season.
But Hall's managers can plug him in as a RB2/3 play and will get some value. Not Breece Hall-type value, but enough to make him rosterable and playable in almost all formats.
