Former Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks got traded to the Dallas Cowboys earlier today. The veteran wide receiver has been traded four times in his NFL career.
Cooks was a first-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2014 NFL Draft. The former Oregon State star spent three years with the Saints before getting traded to the New England Patriots. However, the veteran only spent one year with the Patriots before getting sent to the Los Angeles Rams.
After two years in Los Angeles, Cooks got traded to the Texans. Houston had just traded away DeAndre Hopkins and needed a new No. 1 wide receiver. However, the former Oregon State star grew frustrated with the team over the past year and asked for a trade.

What Did Brandin Cooks Accomplish In 2022?
The veteran wide receiver wanted to get traded before the deadline last year. Dallas was interested in the former first-round pick at the time. However, they couldn't reach a deal, and Cooks finished the year in Houston.
Unfortunately, the veteran wide receiver had a disappointing 2022 season. He missed four games last year for various reasons. Furthermore, Cooks had only 699 receiving yards in 2022, the second-lowest total of his career since his rookie season.
However, the former first-round pick has been one of the more underrated wide receivers in the NFL. Cooks had over 1,000 receiving yards in six of the previous seven seasons before last year. Furthermore, he accomplished that despite playing for four different teams.
Is Brandin Cooks A Good Fit With The Cowboys?
Houston could have gotten more for Cooks at the trade deadline last year. However, they decided to settle for the Cowboys’ offer today. The Texans will receive a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick for the veteran wide receiver.
Dallas made it no secret that they wanted to add a star wide receiver this offseason. While there were reports about DeAndre Hopkins and Odell Beckham Jr. coming to Dallas, Cooks became their guy.
CeeDee Lamb remains the No. 1 wide receiver for the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Cooks should be the starter on the other side, with Michael Gallup sliding to the No. 3 role. While the former Oregon State star won’t see a massive target share because of Lamb, Cooks remains a solid fantasy option.
The Cowboys likely won’t re-sign Dalton Schultz this offseason. Furthermore, Noah Brown left in free agency. Therefore, Dallas has up to 163 targets from last year’s team available for Cooks.
