New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson was unstoppable on Thursday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6. He hauled in 10-of-12 targets for 127 yards and a touchdown. He was quarterback Drew Brees' favorite target and looked just as good as former Saints tight end Jimmy Graham.
But should fantasy football owners consider Watson a TE1 going forward?
The answer is quite simple. Watson is not a TE1 going forward unless he is able to show some consistency with another great performance in Week 7. Watson has always showed signs of greatness even going back to his days with the New England Patriots. But the now 34-year-old has always been extremely inconsistent which is never a good thing for fantasy owners.
The good news for Watson is that Brees loves throwing to a tight end and he is clearly the best the Saints have at that position.
Watson should be considered a TE2 until he proves to be a consistent performer.
