Baker Mayfield Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (ribs) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, allowing backup Kyle Trask to get more repetitions this week ahead of a must-win Week 18 regular season finale against the Carolina Panthers.
He returned to Thursday's practice but was a limited participant. Mayfield is dealing with some rib soreness coming out of the Week 17 loss to the New Orleans Saints, but it would be a surprise if he wasn't active this weekend in a huge game for the Buccaneers as they look to win the NFC South division.
The 28-year-old took a step back in last week's loss after two great games, and he won't have the best matchup against an underrated Panthers defense this Sunday.
Baker Mayfield Fantasy Football Outlook
Although Carolina has been strong against fantasy QBs this season, Mayfield has QB1 upside in a week with key studs like Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes out of action. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Rachaad White give Mayfield plenty of ammo to post big passing numbers, so he's in play for fantasy managers and DFS gamers.
Mayfield has been one of the best value quarterbacks in 2023, so he'll look to finish the regular season strong in one of the most important games of his career.
