The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a chance on quarterback Baker Mayfield this offseason by signing him to a one-year, $8.5 million deal. Mayfield showed some fight with the Los Angeles Rams last season, and that was enough to get a starting gig in the NFL again.
In his first season in Tampa Bay, Mayfield has been better than people likely expected. He has thrown for 1,600 yards, 10 touchdowns, and four interceptions while also dealing with an injury in recent weeks.
Is Mayfield injured or healthy? Let's dive in.

Baker Mayfield Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Mayfield has been dealing with a knee contusion over the past few weeks, which has landed the quarterback on the injury report. He had a questionable tag heading into the Buccaneers Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills last Thursday. The knee issue didn't seem to bother him in the contest.
The veteran completed 25-of-42 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns while also running three times for 19 yards. With the extra rest from that Thursday night game, all signs point to Mayfield being able to suit up in Week 9 when the Buccaneers face the Houston Texans.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN also said that Mayfield plans to play through the knee contusion this weekend. The Buccaneers quarterback will likely be limited in practice to start the week, but he should be on track to start – barring any setback.
Baker Mayfield Fantasy Football Outlook
Mayfield has been a middle-of-the-pack fantasy quarterback this season and will come into Week 9 as a QB2 in Superflex formats. He currently ranks as the QB18 through eight weeks while averaging 16.54 fantasy points per game.
However, Mayfield is coming off back-to-back solid performances, finishing as the QB11 in Week 7 and the QB10 in Week 8. In those games, the Buccaneers quarterback threw for a combined 512 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He also finished as the QB7 in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints.
Mayfield has three top-12 quarterback finishes over the past four games and is currently trending up in fantasy. Having playmakers like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin has helped his potential on offense. With four teams on bye in Week 9, he's a solid start in Superflex leagues.
