Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield was the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Mayfield had a productive college career, completing 69.8% of his pass attempts for 12,292 yards and 119 touchdowns compared to 21 interceptions.
Unfortunately, the former Sooner has bounced around the league during his seven-year NFL career. After four years with the Browns, Mayfield split the 2022 season with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams. He completed only 60% of his pass attempts for 2,163 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions in 12 games with the two teams.
However, the veteran played well enough to earn a one-year deal with the Buccaneers this offseason. While many thought he would have lost the starting job to Kyle Trask by now, Mayfield has had a solid year. He has completed 64.7% of his pass attempts for 2,588 yards and 17 touchdowns, compared to seven interceptions in 2023.

Baker Mayfield Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Mayfield hasn’t been a plug-and-play QB1 this season. Yet, he has been a reliable streaming option for fantasy players. However, the veteran suffered an ankle injury early in yesterday’s 27-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Thankfully, Mayfield returned to the game shortly after getting hurt. The former No. 1 overall pick had an MRI on his ankle today. Head coach Todd Bowles said the MRI came back negative.
Baker Mayfield Fantasy Football Outlook
When the veteran quarterback returned to yesterday’s game, fantasy players were relieved. Furthermore, the negative MRI results suggest that Mayfield will be ready for the Week 13 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
Yesterday, he completed 66.7% of his pass attempts for 199 yards and two touchdowns, compared to two turnovers, scoring 13.4 fantasy points. While the quarterback had a disappointing fantasy performance, Mayfield had scored 18.3 or more fantasy points in three of his past four matchups.
Meanwhile, he has an unfriendly fantasy football matchup this weekend against the Panthers. The NFC South division rivals have held quarterbacks to only 12.8 fantasy points per game, one of the lowest averages in the NFL.
Opposing quarterbacks have struggled against Carolina because of how poor their run defense and offense can be. The Panthers struggle to put up points on offense, while their run defense is arguably the worst in the NFL. Therefore, Mayfield lacks the upside to be a top-12 quarterback in Week 13.
