For most fantasy leagues, the season is over. However, some leagues extend to Week 18, while fantasy news is still critical for daily fantasy purposes.
In their 20-16 loss to the Eagles last week, the Washington Football Team was without running back Antonio Gibson, who was on the COVID-19 list. That led to Jaret Patterson getting the start, but with Gibson being able to be activated off the COVID-19 list, that may not be the case in Week 18.
So, is Antonio Gibson playing this week, and is Jaret Patterson worth starting again? Let us take a closer look!

Is Antonio Gibson Playing This Week Against the Giants?
After being placed on the COVID-19 list and missing last week's game, Antonio Gibson was eligible to be activated from the COVID-19 list, and that is exactly what happened:
This doesn't confirm that Gibson is playing, but all indications are that he will be able to play. How much of a workload will he have? That is another matter. Players coming off the COVID-19 list have often seen their snaps be limited, which makes them risky starts from a fantasy perspective. That being said, Gibson has finished as a top-seven running back in three of the past five weeks. If he's ready to go against the Giants, who rank in the bottom-ten in PFF run defense grade, he should be in your starting lineup.
Is Jaret Patterson Worth Starting in Week 18?
Long story short, Jaret Patterson is most likely not worth start for fantasy football managers that are still playing. Yes, Patterson likely will see more work this week than normal with Gibson being just activated off the COVID-19 list -- but it likely won't be enough for him worth starting.
As is, Patterson was in a three-way committee with Wendell Smallwood and Jonathan Williams; he likely won't see more than four or five carries as a change-of-pace back. Patterson did average 4.8 yards/carry last week, and is a potential intriguing handcuff for next year. For this week, though, that isn't the case.
