Is Antonio Gibson Playing In Week 17?
Washington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson has been dealing with a foot injury over the last several weeks. Gibson was able to suit up last week against the San Francisco 49ers and posted 31 total yards in Week 16 but picked up a knee sprain in Washington's loss to the Niners.
As a result, Gibson has been unable to practice this week, missing all of Washington's sessions ahead of a Week 17 clash with the Cleveland Browns. Friday, he was officially ruled out for this Sunday's game against the Browns.
Should I Start Brian Robinson In Week 17?
It has been quite an eventful year for Washington's rookie running back Brian Robinson. After being shot in the legs in a botched robbery attack prior to the start of the season, Robinson has worked his way back onto the field and to the top of the Commanders' backfield rotation.
Robinson has averaged 19.0 rushing attempts per game since Week 10 while playing as Washington's preferred early-down back. However, he has ceded a big portion of the pass-down work to Antonio Gibson. With Gibson now officially sidelined for Week 17, Robinson should maintain his stranglehold on the offense's carries while likely seeing a bump in his passing-game role.
He draws a smash spot against a Cleveland Browns defense that has been repeatedly gashed on the ground. Cleveland has relinquished 5.24 yards per carry this season, as well as the third-most fantasy points in the NFL to the RB position. Thanks to his matchup and expected volume, the Washington rookie should be started in all formats this week.
