Washington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson has seen his workload reduced thanks to the team's offseason selection of Brian Robinson in the 2022 NFL draft.
Gibson has still returned some value this season, although his production has tapered off of late. To make matters worse, he is now dealing with sprains in his knee and foot.
This leaves fantasy managers wondering about their running back. Is Gibson injured? Will he play in Week 17? Let's dive in.

Antonio Gibson Injury Updates for Fantasy Football
UPDATE 12/28: Gibson did not practice on Wednesday.
Antonio Gibson is dealing with a "sprain," Rivera said. Wouldn't reveal the body part, but sounds concerning. That injury led to more Jonathan Williams last week.

Antonio Gibson Injury News
At least while the game was going on, Gibson didn't seem to come down with any injuries in a Week 16 loss to the 49ers. He didn't get much work, rushing the ball five times for 10 yards and adding two receptions for 21 yards in the loss, although the lack of carries has been a regular occurrence over the past month or so.
That being said, Jonathan Williams was the most involved he had been since Brian Robinson made his season debut in Week 5, totaling five touches.
After the fact, we now realize that Williams' involvement in the contest was likely the result of Gibson getting injured against San Francisco. Head coach Ron Rivera revealed on Wednesday that Gibson is dealing with not only a sprained foot but also a sprained knee.

Is Antonio Gibson Injured or Playing in Week 17?
Gibson's missed practice on Wednesday certainly doesn't bode well for his availability against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17.
That, coupled with the fact that he's dealing with two sprained body parts, puts his status in serious doubt for this weekend. Even when healthy, Gibson has taken a backseat to Robinson of late. Over the past six games, Robinson has 114 carries while Gibson has just 60, including just 10 carries in his past two contests.
For those desperate fantasy managers interested in Gibson's services in the fantasy championship round, it will be important to monitor his participation in Thursday and Friday's practices. If Gibson were to miss, Brian Robinson would become a must-start against a soft Cleveland run defense.
In the meantime, there are other running back waiver wire options available for Week 17, all of which are outlined here in our RotoBaller Waiver Wire Pickups List.
