Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was the fourth-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Richardson had a solid college career, totaling 3,105 passing yards and 24 touchdowns in three years at Florida. He also had 161 rushing attempts for 1,116 yards and 12 touchdowns in college.
The former Gator was named the Week 1 starter during training camp. Indianapolis believed the rookie was ready to play right away. Richardson has been productive over his first few NFL starts.
Unfortunately, the former Gator missed 1.5 games because of a concussion. However, he has completed 59.5% of his pass attempts for 577 yards and three touchdowns this season. More importantly, the rookie has been a force in the run game, accounting for 25 attempts for 136 yards and four touchdowns in four games.

Is Anthony Richardson Playing In Week 6?
Richardson started the Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. He completed 75% of his pass attempts for 98 yards. The rookie also had two rushing attempts for five yards.
Unfortunately, the former Gator suffered a shoulder injury early in the game and never returned. Indianapolis has already ruled the rookie out for the Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Furthermore, Richardson likely will miss multiple weeks with a shoulder injury.
With the rookie out of the lineup, the Colts will turn to veteran backup quarterback Gardner Minshew.
Should I Pickup And Start Gardner Minshew?
The veteran quarterback has played in three games this season, starting the Week 3 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Minshew has been productive off the bench, completing 68.7% of his pass attempts for 553 yards and two touchdowns. He also protected the ball too, throwing zero interceptions.
While Minshew has done well filling in for Richardson, the veteran quarterback isn’t a strong fantasy option. He scored only 13.1 fantasy points in his lone start this year despite having 44 pass attempts. Furthermore, Minshew has averaged only 0.37 fantasy points per pass attempt this year.
Instead, fantasy players should target Matthew Stafford off the waiver wire. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback is available in over 65% of ESPN leagues. Last week, he had 16.9 fantasy points and two passing touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now he faces an Arizona Cardinals team that gave up 317 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 23.4 fantasy points to Joe Burrow in Week 5.
