New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has had one of the more underrated fantasy football seasons this year. Many had concerns about the older running back heading into the season, ranking him as a mid-range or low-end RB2.
However, Kamara has far exceeded those expectations. The veteran is the RB9 for the year, averaging 16.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game despite playing behind a struggling offensive line.
Unfortunately, he suffered a groin injury in the Week 15 loss to the Washington Commanders. Will Kamara play against this season?

Is Alvin Kamara Out For The Season?
The star running back had five rushing attempts for 12 yards, four receptions for 58 receiving yards, and a touchdown in the Week 15 matchup before leaving with the groin injury, totaling 15 fantasy points. Unfortunately, Kamara has missed the past two games because of the injury.
While some had hoped the star running back would return this year, the Saints have no reason to put Kamara on the field in Week 18 with the team eliminated from the playoffs. Therefore, fantasy players shouldn’t expect to see him on the field again this season.
Schefter: Alvin Kamara (groin) could miss rest of season.

Alvin Kamara’s 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Hopefully, fantasy players found a solid replacement option for Kamara during the fantasy playoffs. However, it’s time to look at the veteran’s fantasy football outlook for the 2025 season. Kamara will be back in New Orleans after signing a contract extension earlier this year.
The star running back has been productive despite playing behind an awful offensive line. Kamara had six rushing touchdowns and two receiving scores in 14 games this season. Unfortunately, he had only one touchdown over his final eight games.

While the Saints likely won’t have a much-improved offense in 2025, Kamara’s role as the featured back and a weapon in the passing game should make him a low-end RB1 or a high-end RB2 in early fantasy rankings.
