Is Allen Lazard Injured Or Healthy?
Lazard signed a three-year deal with the Jets this offseason. He will once again catch passes from Rodgers in 2023. However, Jet fans and fantasy football players nearly had a heart attack earlier today.
The veteran receiver got hurt at practice. Lazard went down on the field, and everyone assumed the worst. However, the former Iowa State star finished practice. Lazard let everyone know on Twitter that he is fine.
What Should Fantasy Players Expect From Allen Lazard In 2023?
Thankfully the veteran wide receiver didn’t suffer an injury. However, it’s a good reminder for fantasy players not to overreact when players suffer an injury at practice during OTAs.
Meanwhile, what should fantasy players expect from Lazard this season? The former undrafted free agent had the best year of his career in 2022. He had 60 receptions on 100 targets for 788 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 15 games.
Lazard led the Packers in receptions, targets, and receiving yards. Meanwhile, he finished second in receiving touchdowns, scoring only one fewer than Christian Watson. However, the veteran won’t be the No. 1 wide receiver in New York.
The Jets used a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on Garrett Wilson. Last year the rookie had 83 receptions on 147 targets for 1,103 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Furthermore, he won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
While Wilson will be the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver on the roster, Lazard should be the No. 2 guy. However, the veteran will have competition for targets. The Jets signed Mecole Hardman in free agency. Furthermore, Corey Davis will be part of the final roster. Fantasy players should consider Lazard a WR3 with limited upside this season.
