Wide receiver Allen Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million deal with the New York Jets this offseason. After spending his first five NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Lazard teamed up with Aaron Rodgers in New York. The 27-year-old wideout has 2,236 yards and 20 touchdowns over his career.
Lazard should assume the WR2 responsibilities behind up-and-coming wideout Garrett Wilson this season. With Corey Davis announcing his retirement on Wednesday, the Jets will need the former Packer wideout even more. Hopefully, his injury on Wednesday is just minor.
Is Lazard injured or healthy? Should you draft him this season? Let's take a closer look.

Is Allen Lazard Injured Or Healthy?
Lazard left Jets practice early on Wednesday with an undisclosed injury. The team hasn't released anything further at this time, so the wideout is currently listed as day-to-day.
Reports were that the 27-year-old wideout made an incredible catch over cornerback Sauce Gardner for a 30-yard touchdown but suffered an injury on the play. Connor Hughes of SportsNet New York said that the injury isn't expected to be long-term, and Lazard won't "miss significant time."
The Jets will play their final preseason game on Saturday against the New York Giants and Lazard will likely not suit up due to this injury. However, he should be good to go for the team's season opener on Monday, September 11 against the Buffalo Bills.
Allen Lazard 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
Last season, Lazard was the top wideout option for Rodgers in Green Bay, and he put together his best fantasy season. He finished as the WR35 in PPR formats while totaling a career-high in targets (100), receptions (60), and receiving yards (788). His 11.7 PPR fantasy points per game was also a career-best.
That helped Lazard become an occasional flex play last season. Even though he'll be the WR2 in New York and pair alongside Wilson -- who will most likely lead the team in most offensive categories -- there's an appeal to grab the veteran in the later rounds of your drafts. Lazard won't have a ton of upside, but he'll be a great bye week/injury filler this season.
For starters, he already has that connection with Rodgers. After spending five seasons together, that will no doubt help Lazard stay fantasy-relevant every week. The 27-year-old wideout will also be the Jets' deep-threat target this year after finishing with four consecutive seasons of 12-plus yards per catch.
