Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field in Sunday's game against the Cowboys with a leg injury.
Hutchinson has been one of the NFL's best defenders this season, recording 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble already.

Aidan Hutchinson Injury Update
In Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Lions got awful news as star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was injured after sacking quarterback Dak Prescott.
Hutchinson suffered a broken tibia on the play and immediately had surgery.
While Aidan Hutchinson’s broken tibia is obviously season-ending, the early prognosis is that being ready for 2025 shouldn’t be an issue. All things considered, that’s good news. https://t.co/XtEzp8v3ZU

Hutchinson will miss the rest of the 2024 season as he recovers from the surgery, though he should be ready to play in 2025. It's a huge blow to the Detroit Lions defense, which has allowed the sixth-fewest total yards in the NFL this season.
Detroit Lions Defense Fantasy Football Outlook
The Lions defense takes a pretty big hit without Hutchinson in the lineup. He has half of the team's 15 sacks this season, so that's a pretty big chunk of production that the team has to replace.
Hutchinson has 7.5 sacks. Second on the team is Alim McNeill with 2.5 sacks, while Levi Onwuzurike's 1.5 makes him the only other player with more than a single sack. The team has James Houston and Josh Paschal penciled in as the current starters at defensive end.
The Lions finished as a top 10 fantasy defense in Week 6, the first time all season that happened, but the Cowboys offense deserves most of the credit for that as it looked disjointed all game long.

With Hutchinson sidelined, the Lions are a defense that has situational fantasy appeal. Play it in good matchups, but fade it against teams like the Minnesota Vikings, who the team faces in Week 7.
