Aaron Rodgers Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Rodgers (calf) reportedly suffered a strained calf at organized team activities on Tuesday, according to sources. However, the injury is considered minor as of now, and the expectation is that he should be back fairly soon. Rodgers remained on the field after getting hurt in warmups and walked slowly from drill to drill.
It was probably just a precautionary measure for the Jets to hold the future Hall of Famer out of drills after acquiring him in a trade with the Green Bay Packers this offseason
Aaron Rodgers 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
The Jets' offense is talented across the board with Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis, and Tyler Conklin, but Rodgers' fantasy expectations should be tempered. For one, the Jets' defense is one of the best units in the NFL, meaning there's no guarantee New York will be involved in high-scoring shootouts fit perfectly for QB fantasy upside.
Additionally, Rodgers has always needed a high touchdown rate to finish high among QBs since he has almost zero rushing upside. Touchdown totals vary year-to-year and there's a chance it could take time for the Jets' offense to gel. We've seen multiple quarterbacks change scenery and struggle out of the gate, so it's important not to rush out to best case scenario for Rodgers.
He'll obviously be on the fantasy radar, but Rodgers has traditionally liked to operate a slow pace-of-play offense and have a balanced attack with rushing and passing. That said, we can be cautiously optimistic about his fantasy prowess. There's also a chance Rodgers' best days are simply behind him. Ultimately, he's a solid pick at his QB14-15 price tag in fantasy drafts, but there is a wide range of outcomes for the 39-year-old signal-caller.
