Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (hip) has been one of the best running backs in the NFL on the field and in the stat sheets. Through five weeks, Jones is the RB8 overall and has racked up three games of 15+ fantasy points in full-PPR scoring. Jones has been smashing his preseason ADP of around RB19.
Jones has been a crucial part of a revamped Vikings offense that's scored 27.8 points per game, ranked sixth in the league. They now boast a 5-0 record thanks in large part to his efforts. He has 71 rushes for 350 yards (4.9 yards per carry) and 17 catches for 167 yards and one touchdown, averaging 15.7 PPR fantasy points per game.
Unfortunately, Jones exited the Vikes' Week 5 game against the New York Jets and did not return. Is Aaron Jones hurt or healthy? Will he play in Week 7?

Aaron Jones Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Jones suffered a hip injury Sunday and was pulled from the contest. He did not return. He made every effort to continue playing, including being evaluated in the medical tent, getting work on his hip from trainers, and trying to run down the sideline, but was ruled out.
This 2nd down and 3 play early in the 1st quarter is where #Vikings RB Aaron Jones injured his hip.
He stays in the game on the 3rd down QB sneak play, but you can see him hobble off the screen at the end of that play.
He didn’t return to the game after that.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said after the game that Jones' issue wouldn't be a long-term problem. The nature of Jones' hip injury hasn't been disclosed, possibly because it's not known by the team. He's scheduled to have an MRI on Monday to reveal the exact nature of the ailment.
It's being labeled as a hip injury for Aaron Jones but I'm more worried about a soft tissue injury. He'll have an MRI today https://t.co/ckJrGOURvu

The former Packer has a long injury history, and he's turning 30 in December, so fantasy managers should steel themselves for plenty of injury issues for this season. He only played in 11 games in 2023 and had 11 or fewer touches in five of them. He had 16, 14, 24, and 26 touches in his first four games this season.
He's dealt with an extensive list of injuries in his right leg throughout his career, with over 11 documented ailments in that part of his body alone. It's valid to question the overall integrity of that limb, and reasonable to expect more issues down the road.
The Vikings have a bye in Week 6, and his status for Week 7 is unknown. It's more than likely he won't miss much time, though, unless medical testing reveals a previously unknown issue.
Aaron Jones Fantasy Football Outlook
The eighth-year pro is a locked-in starter when he plays, but this season and the past he's had issues staying on the field. Fantasy managers who drafted or traded for Jones should have also grabbed backup Ty Chandler when given the chance. Chandler took over the lead role in Jones' absence.
For managers that didn't pick up Chandler, Jones may quickly become a headache, though he makes up for it with plenty of points in games when he's healthy. There shouldn't be any doubt that Jones must be in lineups when healthy, though.
