On Saturday afternoon, the NASCAR Cup Series held the qualifying session for this weekend's Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol at Iowa Speedway. This qualifying session consisted of just one round compared to the two that we usually have.
The drivers were all still split into their perspective groups, with the five fastest from both Group A and Group B determining starting positions first through 10th. The rest of the field was then set by row by each group. In qualifying, Group B had a significant speed advantage.
Weird b/c one round ... Top-5 Group A and Top-5 Group B will be top-10 in order of speed ... then the rest of Group A is outside lane, the rest of Group B is inside lane.
