Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley is a worthy consideration as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 10 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 32% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Knicks are definitely a case-study of basketball operations. They got a lottery pick, selected the most-ready guy available in Obi Toppin, and had Julius Randle turn into Wilt Chamberlain 2.0 out of left field. They used their second first-round pick on a flyer, Immanuel Quickley, and he turned out to be a steal that is now sitting on the bench in favor of Elfrid Payton... and newly acquired Derrick Rose! Somebody go MSG and tell the Knicks to put IQ in the starting lineup while handing him 35+ MPG, please.
Quickley has been one of the better rookies of the season. He's arguably in the top-3 only behind LaMelo Ball and Tyrese Haliburton. Don't at me, please. IQ is averaging 12+ PPG, 2+ RPG, and 2+ APG on the year while leading New York's second unit. His 29% usage rate since Jan. 13 is super healthy, but his minutes still feel too low (20 MPG) for how productive he's been while on the court.
The addition of Rose will see IQ and D-Rose share the floor as off-the-bench heaters, and unless Elfrid Payton is traded or Thibs comes to his senses that won't change. That should happen down the road, so you better be getting some IQ shares before it's too late. The per-minute production is insane at 1.15 FP/min in the past month, which is to say IQ is playing at the level of guys like Mike Conley, Khris Middleton, Fred Vanvleet, and Pascal Siakam. At a measly 32 percent rostership...
