ANALYSIS: It's been a challenging season for the Cubs as they look to defend their title, but Ian Happ's emergence has been a bright spot. The latest impressive rookie on the North Side, Happ has hit .259/.324/.527 with 13 home runs and 64 R+RBI in 57 games this season. Over the last month, he's cut his strikeout rate by several percentage points, which has helped him post a .306 batting average during that time. He's also swiped three bags, albeit in six attempts. Happ's been penciled into almost every slot in the Cubs' lineup, but the majority of his at-bats have come in the middle of the order.
The 22-year-old has emerged as the defending champions' best option in center field, but is arguably more useful to fantasy owners as a 2B/MI option. Given his production and multi-position eligibility, it's surprising to see his ownership rate hover around the 50 percent mark. If he's available in your league, Happ definitely deserved consideration.
