BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues
OWNED IN: 35% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Thus far the victim of a logjam in the Padres outfield, Hunter Renfroe may not be the best use of a roster spot in leagues with shallow benches or deep waiver wire pools. However, assuming your format is less constrained, there are few widely available bats more intriguing than the 27-year-old.
Renfroe smashed 19 home runs in just 260 plate appearances after the All-Star break last year, and as I've pointed out before, the parallels between his career trajectory and that of Khris Davis before he became the metronomic monster we all know and love are striking. The Padres appear to favor Franmil Reyes in right field at the moment (and he's definitely a high-potential player in his own right), but he's managed just one hit thus far and could begin to lose time to Renfroe if he continues to run cold. Besides, San Diego clearly still values the older of their two sluggers - when he has started, he's been slotted into the middle of the lineup.
Renfroe's current playing time predicament has left him available on the wire in nearly two-thirds of Yahoo leagues.
