BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 21% of leagues
ANALYSIS: After a horrific April (.485 OPS), Hunter Renfroe has turned his season around. He homered on May 1, kicking off a stretch in which he's slashed .316/.337/.592 with six homers, 19 runs, and 16 RBI over his last 101 plate appearances. Boston's status as one of the highest-scoring teams in the game has allowed Renfroe to overcome being slotted in the bottom half of the lineup.
The 29-year-old has always had plus power; he averaged 28 HR in his three seasons with the Padres despite never amassing more than 500 PA in any of those campaigns. Even during his forgettable 2020 with the Rays, he went deep eight times in 139 trips to the plate, right in line with his career pace. You won't get much help in batting average (his current .259 mark would easily be a career best) or stolen bases (just 12 in 477 career games), but Renfroe can contribute in the other three categories.
