MLB Closers And Saves Waiver Wire Watch For 5/6/15

Fantasy Baseball's fifth week is almost complete and hopefully all of the closers you drafted are healthy and still have their jobs. If that is not the case and you are looking to add some saves to your team, below are some guys who may be able to help sooner rather than later.

Editor's Note: Bookmark our MLB Closers & Saves Depth Charts for the latest look at all the current closers, setup men, longshots and relief pitcher waiver wire adds.

Waiver Wire Saves & MLB Bullpen Report for 5/6/2015

Yimi Garcia (RP, Los Angeles Dodgers)

Garcia has been the Dodgers best reliever to start the season, giving up just one run in 13.2 innings with 21 strikeouts and four walks. He has just one save this season but he may be line for more ninth inning duties after Chris Hatcher blew the save on Monday. Kenley Jansen could return from the disabled list as soon as next week, but in the meantime Garcia is a candidate to pick up some saves and he is available in 40 percent of ESPN leagues.

Jake McGee (RP, Tampa Bay Rays)

Brad Boxberger has done a great job filling in for McGee as closer for the Rays while Jake McGee recovers from elbow surgery. However, McGee is currently in the middle of a minor league rehab assignment and will presumably regain the ninth inning job after he is activated from the disabled list sometime next week. McGee had 19 saves and a 1.89 ERA with 90 strikeouts in 71.1 innings for Tampa last season and is available in over 30 percent of ESPN leagues. Even if he is eased into the closer role once he is activated, he figures to get back to closing later this month and is well worth a roster spot.

Sean Doolittle (RP, Oakland Athletics)

Doolittle is in a similar situation to McGee, as a former dominant closer who is nearing his return from a rotator cuff injury. Doolittle should start his minor league rehab assignment this week and, if all goes well, will be activated within a couple weeks. He has been one of the top relievers in the game over the past three years and had 22 saves and 89 strikeouts with a 2.73 ERA and .73 WHIP in 62.2 innings for the A's last season. He also might be eased back into the closer role in Oakland, but figures to do a lot for fantasy owners once he has the job all to himself sometime this month.
