The quarterback position is always the most fun to follow during the NFL Draft and the 2023 draft is no different. After seeing just one QB go in the first round last year (Kenny Pickett), there could be as many as five to hear their names called in round one of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The top few quarterbacks are virtual locks to go inside the top 31 picks in this week's event, but there is one wild-card QB who is right on the edge of the first round in consensus mock drafts.
Who are the top quarterback prospects in the 2023 draft class and how many of them will be selected in the first round on Thursday Night? Let's dive in.

Top 2023 Draft QB Prospects
Alabama's Bryce Young, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, Florida's Anthony Richardson, Kentucky's Will Levis, and Tennessee's Hendon Hooker are the consensus top-five signal-caller according to MockDraftDataBase.com
Young is a huge favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers, but after that, it becomes tricky to figure out. Stroud was once the favorite to go No. 1 overall, then No. 2 overall, but he's fallen over the last week after some negative buzz around media circles. Meanwhile, Levis is climbing boards, Richardson is mocked all over the place, and Hooker is being mocked as late as the mid-second round.
Ultimately, these are the five guys in play to be taken in Round 1.
How Many Quarterbacks Will Be Taken in the First Round?
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the total for quarterbacks to be selected in the first round is set at 4.5. The lines have moved and will continue to move, but as of now, over 4.5 first-round QBs sits at (-160) odds.
It'd be shocking if Young, Stroud, Richardson, and Levis didn't go in the first round, so it looks like Hooker's draft position will be the deciding factor. By all accounts, it seems there will be no less than four QBs on Thursday, but no more than five.
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said it's more likely for Hooker to go in the first round than the second round, so now might be the last chance to get solid value on an over 4.5 first-round QBs bet.
