BALLER MOVE: Add in NL Only leagues
ANALYSIS: Will the real Henderson Alvarez please stand up? One start he's giving up 3 HR to Atlanta then the next start he's pitching a complete game shutout. There's nothing fantasy baseball owners loathe more than inconsistent starting pitchers, so it's best to stay away from Alvarez. His 2.6 K/BB rate is pedestrian at best and he's giving up a not-so-good-for-early-season 1 HR for every 9.6 flyballs. Nearly one-quarter of all batted balls against Alvarez have gone for line drives. I'm guessing that you don't need a Sabermetrician to explain to you that line drives are not ideal. His numbers right now are on pace not with 2013 Alvarez, but with 2012 Toronto Blue Jays Alvarez who went 9-14 with a 4.85 ERA.
