LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels put together a season for the ages in 2023. Daniels was named this year's Heisman Trophy winner thanks to a campaign that included a mind-blowing 3,812 passing yards and 40 TDs, as well as 1,134 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground.
The California native's performance on the Bayou has led many experts to consider him a top prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft and left Daniels to ponder his future for next season, as well as for LSU's upcoming bowl game vs. Wisconsin.
Today, Daniels announced his intentions for both his professional football career and the Tigers appearance in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year's Day.
Jayden Daniels Opts Out of Bowl Game vs. Wisconsin
The recently awarded Heisman Trophy winner will opt out of LSU's upcoming ReliaQuest Bowl game vs. the Wisconsin Badgers. Daniels announced his decision to not suit up for the 9-3 Tigers on social media in what was a largely expected move that's become a growing trend for collegiate players with early-round NFL draft projections.

LSU's college football playoff aspirations were dashed after their third loss of the season against Alabama in November. With no chance to compete for a national title, Daniels won't risk an injury against Wisconsin on New Year's Day. Tigers' backup QB Garrett Nussmeier is expected to get the start vs. the Badgers.
Jayden Daniels NFL Draft Outlook
After spending the first three seasons of his collegiate career with Arizona State, Daniels transferred to LSU in 2022. He impressed during his first year with the Tigers before putting forth a record-breaking campaign in 2023.
Daniels became the only FBS player in history to pass for 12,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards, while also becoming the first player to pass for 350 yards and rush for 200 yards in a single game in a record-shattering performance against the Florida Gators.

His size and dual-threat ability have made Daniels a highly-touted NFL prospect. Many draft analysts project Daniels to be one of the first QBs taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. RotoBaller's Kyle Lindemann has the LSU signal-caller landing with the Tampa Bay Bucs at the 10th overall pick in his most recent 2024 first-round mock draft.
