BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Leagues
OWNED IN: 26% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Not many people knew about Hector Neris when this season began, but the Philadelphia Phillies continue to impress with the diamonds in the rough they keep finding.
Neris already has 28 K in 20 IP and has seemingly been the only bright spot in the already tumultuous Phillies' bullpen after the departures of Jonathan Papelbon in 2015 and Ken Giles during the offseason (both of which have been complete blessings for the organization).
Neris brings an elite arsenal that starts with his nasty 86 MPH splitter that annihilates hitters. Then complement that with his two seam and four seam fastball which both clock at 92 MPH and you have a closer in the making. He has all but abandoned his slider to focus on fine tuning his three aforementioned pitches and it has certainly paid off.
The key for Neris will be to limit his walks (6) and the home run ball (3) in order to take the next step of his development. His 1.80 ERA, .184 opponent's BABIP and his 12.6 K/9 are all enticing numbers to buy into as a high end reliever with closing duties on the near horizon for the Phillies.
If Neris is available in your league you can get a sneaky ratio helper plus add a guy who can grab vulture saves, holds and eventually be in line to be called on to get saves. His competition in the long term will not be that stiff with the likes of David Hernandez, Jeanmar Gomez and Andrew Bailey. If you are in need of RP help-----what are you waiting for!?
