The final round of the FedEx Cup playoffs kicks off this week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the Tour Championship. It begins on Thursday, August 24, and concludes Sunday, August 27, 2023.

What is Sungjae Im’s Course History At East Lake Golf Club?
The Tour Championship is entering its 16th season as the final event of the FedEx Cup playoffs. It has been played in various formats throughout its history and continues this year for the fourth year in its current staggered format where the leader in FedEx Cup points will start the event at 10-under.
Sungjae Im has made four career starts at the Tour Championship. He has played every year since 2019 and has been outstanding in all his appearances. He finished T19 in 2019, 11th in 2020, T20 in 2021, and his best finish came in 2022 when he tied for second.

How Is Sungjae Im’s Recent Form?
Sungjae Im has put together an outstanding 2023 season, highlighted by his exceptional play over the past few weeks. In his last five starts, he has three top-five finishes and two top-15 finishes. He finished twelfth at the FedEx St. Jude Championship two weeks ago, tied for 15th at the BMW Championship, and tied for second at both the Wyndham Championship and the 3M Open.
Im has been outstanding putting and off the tee recently. He has gained strokes putting and off the tee in each of his last five starts.
Sungjae Im’s Outlook For Tour Championship
Coming into this week, Im's odds are currently at 100/1 at most sportsbooks. This week's field features the top 30 in FedEx Cup standings, and East Lake will present a stern test for golfers. Despite the challenging track, last year the South Korean ranked fifth in driving accuracy, first in greens in regulation, and third in strokes gained on approach.
Im must continue his exceptional approach play and accuracy off the tee if he intends to have a chance to win the FedEx Cup. It’s worth noting that at last year’s Tour Championship over 32% of approach shots were taken from 150-200 yards and this year Im ranks in the 44th percentile in greens in regulation and 36th percentile in proximity to the hole on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. However, Im ranks in the 69th percentile in greens in regulation and the 72nd percentile in proximity to the hole on approach shots from over 150 yards in the rough.
