Houston Rockets - NBA Betting Analysis

The Rockets enter today's game having lost two straight, including a 121-108 loss to the Warriors. Tari Eason led the team in scoring with 21 points on 56.2% shooting. Going into the game, oddsmakers had Houston as the 11.5 point underdog, resulting in an ATS loss for the team.

Now, the Rockets' overall record sits at 18-54, placing them 15th in the Western Conference. The team's current record at home is 12-26 and 6-28 on the road. The Rockets have failed to cover the spread in two straight games and have an overall ATS record of 28-42.

The Rockets come into today's game ranked just 29th in scoring at 110.3 points per contest. Across their last five games, the unit is averaging 110 points per game. A key to the Rockets' offensive struggles is their inability to consistently knock down three-pointers. So far, Houston is 19th in three-point attempts and 29th in percentage at 32.7%. The team's scoring numbers are also hampered by a below average pace of play. For the season, the Rockets are just 98.8 in possessions per game.

The Rockets will look to step up their defensive effort in today's game, as they currently sit at 26th in the NBA for points allowed per game (118.2). Although the team has held up well on the defensive glass (2nd) and forcing turnovers, at an average of 15.7 per game, they still have mediocre overall numbers. Opponents have hit 35.0% of their three-point shots and 48.4% of their overall field goal attempts against the Rockets.

Memphis Grizzlies - NBA Betting Analysis

After taking down the Mavericks by a score of 112-108, the Grizzlies are riding a three game win streak. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the way in scoring with 28 points. Heading into their previous matchup against the Mavericks, the Grizzlies were favored by -4.5, giving them an ATS loss.

With the win, the team has moved to 44-27, placing them 2nd in the Western Conference. So far this season, they have gone 30-5 at home and 14-22 on the road. Memphis' record against the spread is below .500 at 33-36.

So far this season, the Grizzlies' offense has been one of the top units in the NBA, sitting 10th in the league with an average of 116.0 points per game. In their last five games, Memphis is averaging 118 points per contest. Memphis has utilized their pace effectively this season, with an average of 98.8 possessions per game, which ranks 18th in the league. Their fast-paced style has offset their three-point field goal percentage of 34.6% (25th). The Grizzlies are 11th in the NBA for free-throw attempts and have a shooting percentage of 72.6%.

The Grizzlies will be looking for a better defensive effort in today's game, as they are currently just 26th in the league at 118.2 points allowed per game. This figure comes despite ranking well in both defensive rebounds and turnovers forced. So far, Memphis is 2nd in defensive rebounds per game while also turning opponents over an average of 13.0 times per contest (10th). In terms of three-point shooting, the Grizzlies have allowed team's to hit 35.0% of their looks from deep and 48.4% of their overall field goal attempts.

Today's NBA Betting Pick - Rockets vs. Grizzlies

The Grizzlies currently have the leg up in this year's season series against the Rockets. Across two games, the Grizzlies have a record of 2-0. The last head-to-head showdown between the teams ended in a 129-122 win for the Grizzlies. However, the Rockets covered the spread as the 7.0 point underdogs. The over/under line going into the game was 231.5, which they surpassed.

In the Rockets' previous five games as the favorite, they have a straight up record of 3-2 while going 3-2 against the spread. Across their last three road games, they are 2-1 ATS and 1-2 straight up. Their previous ten games have an over/under mark of 4-6 with an average of 237 points per contest.

Across Memphis' last five games at home, they have an ATS mark of 2-3 while going 2-3 straight-up. As the favorite, the Grizzlies are 3-0 straight up on an average scoring differential of 5 points per game. This has led to an ATS mark of 1-2. Their previous ten games have ended in an average of 232 points per game and an over/under mark of 5-5.

Recommended ATS Betting Pick: MEM -14

Recommended OU Betting Pick: Under 227.5
