ANALYSIS: The Los Angeles Chargers narrowly avoided a four-game losing streak by getting out of Foxborough with an ugly 6-0 win over the New England Patriots in Week 13.
Chargers starting TE Gerald Everett played an important role for QB Justin Herbert and company, reeling in four of his five targets for 44 yards on the day. His most important catch of the game came early when he reeled off a 26-yard catch in the first quarter.
This now makes back-to-back games for Everett where he reeled in four catches for over 40 yards. In Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens, he posted a four-catch, 43-yard, one-touchdown performance in the team’s 20-10 loss.
Everett hasn’t necessarily been a staple of fantasy lineups this season, averaging roughly 5.8 points per game and currently standing as the TE23 in half-PPR formats. Despite that, he’s shaping up to be a reliable target for Herbert as the Chargers look to keep their season and playoff hopes alive.
Despite his struggles from a yardage perspective, the former South Alabama Jaguar has been a viable red zone threat for the Bolts this year. Everett has reeled in three touchdowns this year, which puts him in the top 10 of the position. He has seen seven red zone targets this season, which puts him in the top 12 of qualified tight ends.
Now, Everett draws an incredibly favorable matchup in Week 14 when the Chargers host the Denver Broncos. Denver has allowed the most points to opposing fantasy tight ends this season, while also being tied for allowing the second-most touchdowns to the position with six.
Between his recent form and his upcoming matchup, the seven-year veteran is worth a pickup on the waiver wire this week.
