POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4
ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens had high expectations after a solid rookie season. The second-year player is the WR32, averaging 10.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 33 receptions on 62 targets for 566 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2023.
However, his production has fallen off a cliff since the return of Diontae Johnson. In the four games without the veteran wide receivers, Pickens is the WR13, averaging 14.5 fantasy points per game. By comparison, he is the WR41, averaging 7.2 fantasy points per game in the past four games with Johnson. Furthermore, Pickens has five receptions on nine targets for 44 receiving yards and 6.9 fantasy points over the past two weeks.
Unfortunately, the second-year player has an awful fantasy football matchup in Week 11. The Cleveland Browns have held wide receivers to 21.4 fantasy points per game, the second-fewest in the NFL. They have surrendered 12.5 or fewer fantasy points in nearly half of their games this season.
While Pickens had a lucky break touchdown in the Week 2 matchup against the Browns, fantasy players should avoid starting the former Bulldog.
