ANALYSIS: There should not be any doubt about Geno Smith's position in the QB tiers of the NFL at this point into the season. Yes, the start was a bit random with his W1 game reaching 16.2 FP and his second start topping at 7.1 FP, but it's now been three weeks in a row for Smith putting up 19.9+ FP and finishing each of the past three games as a QB7 at the very least. What's not to love!?
Smith had a very efficient day this past Sunday at New Orleans. He only attempted 25 passes but 16 of those were completions and three turned into touchdowns. Smith has now avoided fumbles in all past four games while only committing one in Week 1 and never after that game.
Of course, Smith could be the better quarterback ever but even then having no help at the WR/TE positions would murder his upside. It's been the opposite in Seattle, though, as Smith is doing enough with his (perhaps) limited skill set boosting his upside and lifting his ceiling thanks to the weekly improvement of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Metcalf has scored 17+ PPR points in each of the last three games and Tyler Lockett is coming off a 27.4 PPR-point outing and WR3 finish in Week 5. Even Will Dissly, the Seahawks main tight end, has already bagged three touchdowns over the season with one each in W1, W3, and W4.
Geno Smith has been a revelation and although Seattle's results aren't better than those of Denver (Russell Wilson's new team) with both teams sitting at a 2-3 record, the truth is that fantasy GMs that passed on drafting Russ and decided to stream the position or draft Smith late are surely benefitting from a better fantasy QB available at a much cheaper price.
