BALLER MOVE: Start in Standard Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: The Seahawks' inability to run the ball consistently and the fact that they have been playing from behind multiple times this season has led to a situation where Geno Smith has become a high-volume quarterback.
Smith has attempted 40 or more throws four times in six games this year and has eclipsed the 50-attempt mark twice. That's been a good thing for his fantasy value as he's averaging nearly 300 yards of passing per contest and completing 67% of his throws.
After six weeks, Geno Smith leads the NFL in passing yards - something that we probably didn't see coming this preseason.
Here are the top 5 quarterbacks in passing yards so far this season:
1.Geno Smith (Seattle Seahawks) – 1,778 yards
2.Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers) - 1,629 yards
3.Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) – 1,602 yards
4.Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings) – 1,598 yards
5.Joe Burrow…— Nick D'Angelo (@FFFormulaNick) October 18, 2024
The matchup with Atlanta is a fairly neutral one in terms of metrics, but this game is ticketed with a massive 51.5 total. That means Vegas expects 3-4 touchdowns from both teams this week in a game where the Falcons are favored by just three points.
Look for Smith to continue to air it out often this week and therefore he should be an excellent play in just about any format. With reliable targets like DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Nijgba, as well as reliable pass-catching backs Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet, Smith should be able to lead this team on scoring drives win or lose.
