BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 26% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Enough is enough, it's time to add Garrett Cooper. Forget that he's on the Marlins and forget that he's been a virtual unknown all year - Cooper is crushing. Since returning from injury in mid-May, Cooper has been a monster - slashing .356/.414/.548 with a .405 wOBA and 157 wRC+. The .356 average is first among qualified first basemen since May 15th - by 20 points. The wOBA and wRC+ are both sixth over the same period, behind names you might recognize like Freeman, Alonso, and Santana - and ahead of others like Rizzo, Bell, and Hoskins.
As summer has heated up, Cooper has only picked it up more - with his counting stats getting a boost from an improved Marlins offense. Since June first, he has 16 RBI, and 19 runs scored - while slashing a ridiculous .389/.439/.589 - with a .433 wOBA and 175 wRC+, to boot. Among first basemen, that wOBA and wRC+ are second only to Peter Alonso over the same period - while the .389 AVG is first by 50 points. Repeat; it's time to add Garrett Cooper.
Fully into summer, the baseball season has reached the point where players generally are what they are. And Garrett Cooper is a stud. Eligible at outfield, as well as first base, Cooper looks to be a prime source of AVG and OBP, with counting stats that more than hold their own. Add Cooper now, before the Marlins-colored glasses no longer stop owners from recognizing the masher that he really is.
