BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 22% of leagues
ANALYSIS: You'll be forgiven if Miami outfielder Garrett Cooper hasn't been on your radar. Not only is it easy to be invisible when you play for the last-place Marlins, but Cooper also hasn't helped his case for relevance by missing large chunks of time due to injury. He was out for most of April this year after getting plunked by pitches twice, after missing over a third of the 2018 season due to wrist injuries.
But since Cooper returned for good on May 11th, he's been quietly great. Great as in, six home runs, 20 RBI and 24 runs scored - all with a 148 wRC+ and a .398 wOBA. This kind of production may seem like it has come out of nowhere but looking back to his last injury-free year in the minors - in 2017 with the Brewer's organization - the signs for a hitting breakout were there. Over 320 PA, Cooper slashed .366/.428/.652 with 17 HR and 82 RBI - backing it with a .451 wOBA and 174 wRC+. Let it not be said that Cooper has not raked before.
Healthy for the past month, Cooper has gone back to being a smasher of baseballs and yet his ownership sits at only 22%, while he wastes away in Miami - and his production wastes away on the waiver wire. Eligible at 1B and OF, Cooper seemingly has a lock on the second spot in the order for Miami and given health, looks to be a solid source of power and batting average going forward - even on a bad Marlins team.
