The Jaguars agreed to a contract with free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis during the first day of legal tampering, but it’s certainly not a one-to-one replacement for Calvin Ridley.
Rather, the addition provides a bit of a shakeup for the Jacksonville offense. Davis doesn’t project as the top receiving option in Duval County. Christian Kirk and Evan Engram should lead the team in targets if both remain healthy.
Davis may remain maddeningly inconsistent for fantasy football managers in 2024 but you can bet on boom weeks with his new team.

Gabe Davis Signing Details
Jacksonville didn't let other teams swoop in and snipe their priority wide receiver target. Davis' camp agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract that could reach 50 million dollars if the wideout hits incentives.

Davis' skillset made him an intriguing option for wide receiver-needy teams. He was due for a reasonable payday and the writing was on the wall for his time in upstate New York.
Gabe Davis 2024 Fantasy Outlook
Davis is one of the best deep threats in football, averaging 16.7 yards per reception through his first four seasons. His old quarterback, Josh Allen, never turned down the chance to toss a deep pass. Trevor Lawrence, while slightly more accurate with his long balls, didn't attempt as many shots in 2023.

The former fourth-round pick will get his share of the looks but projecting him to replace the 136 targets vacated by Ridley wouldn't be accurate. Davis' career-best mark is 93 targets in 2022 and Kirk will be the target hog in 2024, followed by Engram. Zay Jones will get his piece of the pie as well.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the signing is Travis Etienne Jr. While Davis may not be as polished of a wide receiver as Ridley, he does two things better than the man he’s replacing. He’s an outstanding run-blocker on the perimeter and he’s a deep threat. Whether it’s a run or a pass play, defenses will have to account for Davis blowing by the secondary on play action or get past him blocking for the shifty running back.
Davis will still be viewed as a WR4 for fantasy football in 2024. He's never finished better than the WR36 in any of his four seasons. Managers will have to hope they figure out the algorithm that tells us when to place him in starting lineups. Otherwise, they'll be facing a one-catch game, or worse. As always, he's a terrific option in best ball.
