While NFL preseason games don't count in the standings, they're still important for players and coaches. Players use every snap to prepare for the upcoming season or win the coaches' nod for a roster spot.
Conversely, coaches are still assessing players before finalizing their 53-man roster. Therefore, for those at the tail end of the depth chart, these games could distinguish between making the cut and not.
Fans, especially those engaged in fantasy football, could also use preseason games to find under-the-radar options that could make a difference for their squad. Likewise, it's still a football game, which appeals to those who have missed NFL action since the Super Bowl.
