MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks
Andrew Heaney under 11.5 outs recorded (+115, DraftKings sportsbook)
The Rangers carry a 2-1 series lead into tonight's tilt with the rival Astros but make no mistake, everyone remains on a short leash moving forward.
That certainly includes left-hander Andrew Heaney who has pitched just 3 2/3 innings of baseball since his regular-season finale back on Sept. 30. He did well in allowing just a single earned run on two hits and a walk in those 3 2/3 frames in a Game 1 win over the Orioles in the ALDS. That outing also came on Oct. 7, meaning Heaney hasn't pitched in 12 days.
Only once over his last eight outings has Heaney made to pitch at least four innings. That came in his final regular-season outing with just 4 1/3 innings of work, otherwise, he finished the regular season as a reliever and will be on an extremely short leash in this one tonight.
There's also the case of the Astros pummeling left-handed pitching this season. Their .347 wOBA off of southpaws ranked third while their .200 isolated power off of lefties finished the regular season fourth league-wide.
Houston got back into the series on Wednesday thanks to an offensive eruption that saw them hang eight runs on Rangers pitching after scoring just four runs -- all in Game 2 -- across the first two games of this series. Of course, this lineup can be the very best in baseball when they're hot and it appears they broke out with authority last night.
Add it up and Heaney should be hard-pressed to improve on his 3 2/3 innings from his last time out, meaning he should hit the under 11.5 outs recorded at fantastic value.

MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks
Jose Altuve over 1.5 total bases (+115, DraftKings sportsbook)
In all honesty, there's a wealth of Astros bats that can be taken at this very prop at plus-money odds. Alex Bregman, Jose Abreu, and the white-hot Yordan Alvarez are all quality bets at big-time value. However, today's pick of the litter is Jose Altuve as he looks to continue his career success against Heaney.
On one hand, Heaney actually fared better against right-handed hitters such as Altuve this season. At the same time, Altuve's splits favored right-handed pitching this season. However, the veteran infielder is also a career .324 hitter with an .892 OPS off southpaws and has destroyed Heaney across a sizeable sample.
All he has done against the veteran is go 12-for-37 (.324) with three doubles and a pair of homers across 38 career plate appearances against Heaney. He has struck out in just five of those 38 trips to the plate, good for a fantastic 13.2% K% against the lefty, meaning he has been a tough out in this matchup, which is the case for this hitter in almost any matchup.
Altuve hasn't been at his best in these playoffs but he did blast a solo home run off of Max Scherzer on Wednesday night as part of a two-hit effort. Again, that appeared to be a breakout effort.
Again, it's not unwise to stack up these Astros hitters props. While it's unlikely Heaney is going to last very long Thursday night, the 'Stros should be able to get to him early. There should be plenty of money to be made with Astros hitters tonight.
Good luck, RotoBallers!
