If you're new, or just a refresher to those who read my articles last season, I'm John Brubaker. I've been betting MLB baseball games for four years now, and this is my second MLB season working with the great folks at RotoBaller. I've created my own betting model to help me create and identify value on run lines, totals, and money lines. In this article, I'll be providing my favorite betting picks for the MLB games on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Today's MLB Betting Picks - Mets @ Athletics
O/U: 7.0 | Moneyline: OAK +200
NYM: Max Scherzer| OAK: JP Sears
We are going to go right back to Oakland, where the Mets handled business against the southpaw, Cole Irvin, and the Athletics in a 9-2 rout. I expect much of the same in this matchup of Mad Max and JP Sears.
The story here for the Mets is their ability to dominate left-handed pitching as demonstrated by Friday night's barrage. Over the previous two weeks, the Mets have posted a spectacular 156 wRC+ mark vs. lefties, which is ranked third-best in baseball over that span. They have also posted a 13.3% walk rate, which you love to see.
Sears has struggled for Oakland this season and has allowed 11 earned runs over his previous three starts. The Oakland offense has also struggled against righties in recent weeks as they are posting a 25.8% K rate over the previous two weeks, which ranks eighth-worst in baseball. They are also posting a mediocre 99 wRC+, which will almost certainly take a hit in this game against Max Scherzer.
Scherzer looked great in his first start off of the IL last week against the Brewers as he struck out nine of six innings of work while only needing 68 pitches. He should be a bit more stretched out in this one and should also be in line for a solid day against those numbers the Athletics have been putting up.
Pick: Mets -1.5 (-120) Draft Kings Sportsbook, 1 unit

Today's MLB Betting Picks - Angels @ Twins
O/U: 7.5 | Moneyline: LAA -105
LAA: Jose Suarez| MIN: Dylan Bundy
We'll head out to Minneapolis for our second play of the day where Jose Suarez for the Angels will be matched up against Dylan Bundy of the Twins. While neither of these teams has a tremendous amount of offense to write home about, neither starter in this matchup has performed well on the season.
Jose Suarez has posted a 4.10 FIP with a 1.30 WHIP on the season. He has also allowed eight earned runs over his previous 10 1/3 innings pitched. The Twins have not been world-beaters against left-handers lately, but they have posted a 97 wRC+ mark over the previous two weeks against them. They have also floated around the top of the wRC+ charts vs. lefties in recent weeks. The Angels pen also ranks in the bottom half of the league in terms of ERA, so once Suarez is done, the Twins should be able to add on.
Dylan Bundy is on the other side of this matchup and he has allowed 13 earned runs over his previous 13 1/3 innings pitched. The Angels enter this game having posted a 100 wRC+ over the previous two weeks against righties. Bundy had success against the Angles earlier in the season when he threw five scoreless innings, but this lineup has improved with Mike Trout coming back and the same type of success should not be expected. The Twins' pen is also middle-of-the-road in terms of ERA (3.87), so the Angels can certainly get to them in the middle innings as well.
Pick: Over 7.5 runs (-110) Draft Kings Sportsbook, 1 unit
