Today's MLB Betting Picks - Phillies @ Blue Jays
O/U: 8 | Moneyline: TOR (-155)
PHI: Aaron Nola | TOR: Kevin Gausman
These two teams battled it out last night with the Blue Jays prevailing 2-1. The Philly bullpen broke down again as Serathony Dominguez hit Cavan Biggio with a pitch that forced in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth. It's a shame because Zack Wheeler pitched tremendously, even if he didn't hit his strikeout prop. I wasn't expecting Yusei Kikuchi to match Wheeler, but he was lights out, too.
We should be treated to some really good pitching here again today. Nola has not been quite as good as Wheeler for the Phils but is an ace-caliber pitcher who is capable of shutting down good teams. And Gausman is a top-5 pitcher in all of baseball in my opinion and the clear ace of this Toronto pitching squad.
Yet we are still looking at an 8-run total, which is weird. We usually see pitchers' duels move down to 7.5 or even 7 runs. I mean, it's not like either of these offenses are unstoppable, either. Both teams have been pretty average offensively and you could argue they've underperformed compared to their preseason expectations.
The Blue Jays lead the major leagues with a 58% cover rate on the under this year and Philly ranks 8th at 55%. Grab this one now, I think we could see it drift to 7.5 runs soon.
Pick: UNDER 8 runs (-115) DraftKings Sportsbook

Today's MLB Betting Picks - Angels @ Rangers
O/U: 9 | Moneyline: TEX (-180)
LAA: Reid Detmers | TEX: Jon Gray
This is a tale of two teams heading in drastically different directions. The Rangers have taken the first two games of the series against the Angels, outscoring them 19-3 in the process. That gives Texas eight wins in their last ten games as they attempt to lock up the AL West with the Astros peeking over their shoulders.
Meanwhile, despite going for it at the deadline, the Angels have gone 3-11 in August and are falling further out of contention. They are 13.5 games behind Texas in the AL West and eight games out of the Wild Card race.
These two pitchers are also trending in different directions, too. Jon Gray is coming off his best outing of the second half as he went seven scoreless frames against the Giants with seven strikeouts.

Reid Detmers, who pitched pretty well against Texas earlier in the season, has been struggling lately. He allowed seven runs for the second straight start as Houston roughed him up last week. He will have a challenge today with this deep Texas lineup, too. The advantage goes to Texas when it comes to both hitting and pitching tonight.
Texas has the best record on the run line at home this season at 40-22. That's good for an awesome 64.5% cover rate. We are getting this bet at plus money, tonight, which I love. I think the Rangers continue their romp over the Angels and win this one going away.
Pick: Texas Rangers -1.5 (+105) DraftKings Sportsbook
Bonus Underdog Special: Pittsburgh Pirates ML (+105)
Good luck, Rotoballers!
