BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues
OWNED IN: 31% of leagues
ANALYSIS: A quick glance at Franmil Reyes' current circumstances might make one wonder why he deserves the coveted "universal add" designation. After all, he's hitting just .167/.270/.400 and fighting for playing time in a crowded Padres outfield. Go deeper, though, and there's plenty to be excited about.
The 23-year-old finished strong as a rookie last season; over his final 49 games, he slashed .318/.385/.548 with 10 home runs, buoyed in large part by huge strides in plate discipline. While his early-season results are a bit underwhelming, he's flashed even further improvement in his approach thus far. Reyes' contact issues from the first half of last season haven't appeared in 2019 - in fact, he's striking out just 16 percent of the time and has trimmed his swinging strike rate to single digits.
Given how hard he hits the ball, it's only a matter of time until his current .125 BABIP rises and the production follows. It may already have begun to do so, as Reyes has gone deep twice in his last four contests. And though he may lose occasional at-bats to Hunter Renfroe, he's hit either fourth or fifth in the lineup in every start to this point.
Reyes remains free to add in nearly 70 percent of Yahoo leagues - for now. Grab him while you can.
