Frank Gore (RB, NYJ) - Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: In this the year 2020 of our Lord, Frank Gore keeps being a viable WW target. That's insane, and I never thought I'd still be writing about Gore 43 years ago when he made his NFL debut. But here we are, folks. The Jets lost La'Mical Perine to injury this past Sunday after 11 snaps and 8 carries, so Gore took the major workload and led New York's backfield like in the good old days. Perine's injury might keep him out of gridirons for a while, which will make Gore a surefire RB1 at least for a few weeks.

Gore wasn't insanely great against the Chargers, but the truth is that he finished Sunday's game with his best fantasy score to date thanks to his 15 rushing attempts for 61 yards and a score, plus the 10 yards he added on two pass catches. The 15.1 PPR points were good for a 56th rank among all players pending MNF, and an RB13 finish this close to putting Gore in the RB1 realm in W11.

Don't fool yourself into thinking Gore is a borderline RB1, though. Gore had reached 8+ points prior to this game only once this season (W6 at Miami, 11.0 PPR), and even on a similar usage back in Weeks 2 and 3 (21 and 15 carries respectively) he couldn't even top 7.2 PPR points...

Gore, though, will face virtually no competition in the backfield going forward until Perine is back, so he'll be back to his 60% snap share and has three good matchups ahead, including a game against Miami next weekend. Good RB3/FLEX start leading up to (and into the first week of) the fantasy playoffs
