Outfielder Options For Fantasy Baseball
For fantasy owners looking to boost their outfield, here are five options to consider adding off of the waiver wire. This week's list features two outfielders returning from injury and three others that have been putting the ball out of the ball park. These five outfielders can be considered sleepers that are worth owning in various fantasy league formats.
Coco Crisp - (OF, OAK) - 79% Owned
Back in the lineup everyday after missing over a week of action with a neck issue, Coco Crisp is a serviceable fantasy outfielder in all formats. Crisp leads off for the first-place Athletics and is in prime position to score and drive in plenty of runs down the stretch.
The veteran switch-hitter is slashing .268 on the year with 53 R, 7 HR, 36 RBI and 16 SB. Crisp can do a little bit of everything and is worth adding in all leagues, if you're in one of the 20+% of leagues where he's available.
Angel Pagan - (OF, SF) - 40% Owned
Angel Pagan has returned to the San Fransisco lineup after missing over seven weeks with back issues. Pagan maintains a high batting average, and he can score runs and steal bases with the best of them. Angel has hit safely in each of his three games since returning to his usual spot atop the Giants order. He is hitting .306 with 37 R, 3 HR, 19 RBI and 11 SB in just 66 games this year. When healthy, Pagan is one of the best leadoff men in the league, and is worth owning in all fantasy formats.
Khris Davis - (OF, MIL) - 82% Owned
So much for Khris Davis's stock dropping after the addition of Gerardo Parra. Davis smashed two home runs in his last four games, and now has 19 round-trippers on the season.
The second-year Brewer is sporting a .252 batting average with 60 R, 19 HR, 58 RBI and 3 SB. Khris may lose a few starts to Parra, especially against tough righties, but look for him to continue to produce in all the major offensive statistical categories. Again, if you're in one of the leagues where Davis is on the wire, he will likely be a solidly productive add for the remainder of the season.
Dustin Ackley - (2B/OF, SEA) - 53% Owned
With four home runs over his last nine games, Dustin Ackley is a promising waiver wire option. Dustin has also collected eight runs and a stolen base over that period of time. The former infielder wields an impressive combination of speed and power, and he'll continue to play an integral part in the Mariners offense for the remainder of the season. His ownership percentage is steadily rising, so jump while you still can, especially if you need the position flexibility.
Dayan Viciedo - (OF, CWS) - 10% Owned
Another outfielder that has been putting the ball out of the ballpark lately is Dayan Viciedo. "Tank" has four home runs in his last seven games and has some of the most impressive raw power in the American League. His inconsistent production and low batting average cloud his overall fantasy value, but Dayan's proficiency for hitting long balls makes him a solid acquisition.
Viciedo is now hitting .237 on the season with 55 R, 16 HR and 44 RBI, and he plays his home games in one the the best possible parks for right-handed hitters. Invest with confidence in deeper leagues.
