Outfielders Options For Fantasy Baseball
Looking for a replacement while George Springer is on the shelf? Maybe you just need some extra speed or power to add to your fantasy lineup. Below is a list of five outfielders whom I believe are undervalued looking towards Week 19, and are worth adding off of the waiver wire in all league formats. Some of these outfielders can be considered sleepers depending on the league format, including NL-Only and AL-Only leagues, and could be useful fantasy players over the next few weeks if still available in your leagues.
Josh Harrison - (OF/2B/3B, PIT)
89% Owned in Yahoo, 19% in Fleaflicker Leagues
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats
With home runs in each of his last four games, Josh Harrison is among the hottest hitters in the league. Even in a crowded Pittsburgh outfield, Harrison is making it impossible for the Pirates' coaching staff to take him out of the lineup right now.
Josh Harrison is already a highly-owned fantasy player, but is still available in about ten percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues, and in plenty more other leagues like Fleaflicker. If Harrison's name still somehow appears on your league's waiver wire, drop what you're doing and snag him now.
Adam Eaton - (OF, CWS)
56% Owned in Yahoo, 23% in Fleaflicker Leagues
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
In his first full year of major league action, Adam Eaton is putting together a fine season for the Sox. The leadoff man has at least one run and one hit in five straight games and has hit safely in fourteen of his last fifteen. Eaton was hitting .265 as recently as July 9th, and is now hitting .292 on the season. Adam has four three-hit games this month and will be a key figure in the White Sox lineup down the stretch. For fantasy owners looking for batting average, runs and stolen bases, Adam Eaton is a great pickup.
Josh Reddick - (OF, OAK)
22% Owned in Yahoo, 11% in Fleaflicker Leagues
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
Josh Reddick has always been a streaky hitter and this season has been no different. Though he may never hit for a high average, Reddick does have fantasy value when he is on his game.Josh has been explosive as of late, totaling 8 H, 7 R, 2 HR and 4 RBI in his last eight games. It remains to be seen how long this successful streak will last, but Josh is certainly worth adding for the time being.
Emilio Bonifacio - (OF/2B/3B, CHC)
25% Owned in Yahoo, 22% in Fleaflicker Leagues
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
Last week's waiver wire list featured Emilio Bonifacio as a player to watch. This week, Emilio is now officially a player to add. His return to the top of the Cubs order has paid immediate dividends. Bonifacio has hit safely in seven of eight games since the All-Star break, accumulating 14 hits over that span. Emilio has been the subject of trade talks over the past week or so, and though he may wind up wearing a different uniform, the speculation does not appear to have affected his play. Emilio is an excellent fantasy addition for owners looking for help scoring runs and stealing bases.
Danny Santana - (OF/2B/SS, MIN)
39% Owned in Yahoo, 8% in Fleaflicker Leagues
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper and AL-Only Leagues
Since rejoining the Twins, Danny Santana has been one of Minnesota's most productive players. The switch-hitting outfielder has racked up 11 H, 7 R, 1 HR and 4 RBI in 10 games following the All-Star break. Santana is now hitting .318 on the season with 26 R, 3 HR, 20 RBI, and 6 SB. While his numbers do not pop off the page, Danny can do a little bit of everything. Owners looking for a solid all-around outfielder may want to take a look at Santana.
